Updated Clinical Practice Guidelines Adopted: A Guide for Providers

Samaritan Health Plans develops and adopts evidence-based Clinical Practice Guidelines. The guidelines are meant to assist providers in making decisions about appropriate health care for specific clinical circumstances. They are also intended to improve the quality and consistency of care provided to members. Each guideline is endorsed by a physician champion and adopted by our Quality Management Council.

The Council recently adopted:

  • Recommended Adult and Child Preventive Screening Guideline.
  • Recommended Adult Immunization Guideline.
  • Recommended Childhood Immunization Guideline.
  • Recommended Pediatric Preventive Screening Guideline.
  • Oral Health Care in Pregnancy Guideline.
  • Asthma Guideline.
  • Obesity Guideline.

About the Quality Management Council

The Quality Management Council is chaired by our Chief Medical Officer and is comprised of contracted mental health, physical health and dental providers or partners, health plan staff, addictions specialists, community representatives, care management personnel, and other subject matter experts as needed. It is responsible for the oversight and management of all external quality-related activities.
