Samaritan Health Plans Terminates Contract with Salem Health November 19, 2024 After extensive negotiations, Samaritan Health Plans and Salem Health have not reached a new agreement, resulting in the termination of their contract effective December 31, 2024. Beginning on this date, Salem Health providers and facilities will be out-of-network for Samaritan Advantage and InterCommunity Health Network CCO (IHN-CCO) members. This change does not impact members covered by Samaritan Health Plans’ employer-sponsored plans. Here’s What Your Clients Need to Know: Who is Affected? This change affects Medicare and Medicaid members enrolled in Samaritan Advantage and IHN-CCO health plans. Starting December 31, 2024, these members will no longer have in-network access to Salem Health providers. However, Samaritan Health Plans is committed to supporting members through this transition by connecting them with other in-network providers. Supporting Continuity of Care for Members. To minimize disruption, Samaritan Health Plans is proactively reaching out to affected members to provide guidance on accessing alternative in-network providers. For members undergoing active treatment, we are coordinating with providers to ensure continuity of care wherever possible and appropriate. Employer-Sponsored Plans. Unaffected members with Samaritan Health Plans’ employer-sponsored coverage—including Samaritan Health Services employees—will not be impacted by this change. Salem Health will remain an in-network provider for these plans, including Choice and large-group plans. Questions and Assistance. We recognize that this change may lead to questions from your clients. Samaritan Health Plans is here to help ensure all affected members have access to quality, affordable care throughout this transition.
