Traditional Health Workers Types

  • Birth doulas provide support for families through pregnancy, childbirth and after giving birth.
  • Community health workers work with individuals and communities to access care and reach health goals.
  • Personal health navigators provide information, assistance, tools and support to people with complex medical and social needs.  
  • Peer support specialists utilize their lived experience to support recovery from addiction and mental health conditions.
  • Peer wellness specialists use their experience to assist and advocate for people living with a mental health condition.
