One Debit Card Is Better Than Two November 19, 2024 Beginning next year, Samaritan Advantage members will have one less debit card to carry around. Currently members have a prepaid Benefits Mastercard to use for their dental, vision, hearing and over-the-counter benefit spending. They also receive a separate Rewards & Incentives Mastercard that is loaded with funds earned through Samaritan’s Rewards and Incentives Program. In 2025, the Benefits Mastercard will be issued for both programs. The goal is to make benefits spending more convenient and reduce any confusion around the purposes for the two cards. The Benefits Mastercard is issued automatically when a member joins the plan. All current members will be issued a new card in December. The new card will be white, as opposed to the blue cards in use this year. The Rewards and Incentives Program lets members earn cash rewards by getting specific preventive and screening services. Instead of issuing a separate card for the rewards program, money will now be added to their Benefits Mastercard after seeing a provider for these services, which include: Annual Wellness Visit, physical exam or Welcome to Medicare Visit – $25. Health risk assessment – $25. Flu vaccination – $25. Pneumonia vaccination – $15. Breast and colorectal cancer screenings – $20 per screening. Bone density measurement screening – $20. Diabetes screenings (up to two per year) – $10 per screening. Funds from these rewards can be redeemed at grocery stores, pharmacies, home improvement stores or to pay for education and health care expenses. Examples of participating retailers include Safeway, Fred Meyer, Walmart, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Samaritan pharmacy locations and many other retailers.
